Working Remote…

I have one of the coolest jobs as a Systems Engineer at Pure Storage. Daily I work deep in technology balancing a high demand customer. I love it. Facing the facts, life changed after 2021. The world was forced to work remotely as offices closed. Today, I have a few offices I work out of –

  • my home office – we changed up a master bedroom closet into an office, it’s actually pretty nice and well positioned in the house to be an office. (i.e. sound proof)
  • The Ledger Bentonville – this is a great place for remote work with some privacy of an office. There is a membership cost, but gives you access to a gen-pop seating and conference rooms.
  • Coffee Shop – these are my favorites. I frequent Kennedys Coffee and Airship Coffee. When you are cooped up in the home office, these are great places to bring out the office feel and meet with the customer or var. (if you can work in a loud, busy environment.) and you get a great coffee. (We are blessed in Bentonville to have awesome coffeeshops.)

The above/below picture is my typical setup at a coffee shop.

  • Laptop – MacBook Pro (to get the work done, yes I take zoom calls from here)
  • Headset – Bose QC45 (I also use a cool app call Krisp to help with noise canceling on zoom, they don’t hear the noise around me.)
  • T-Mobile JeXtream HotSpot ( most coffee shops provide adequate wifi, but I would rather just be on my own wifi)
  • Portable Power Strip (with plugs and fast charging USB ports) slim design that is a portable and also charges all my devices.
  • DFM – Pure Storage Direct Flash Module (cause everybody wants to know what it is)

What’s your favorite work places? …and next time, join me for a good cup of coffee.
